Summer Games in the City

Summer Games in the City brings our smallest athletes together to flex their muscles and celebrate culture and sports from around the world.

Pretend City Children’s Museum, a hub for early childhood development in Irvine, is excited to announce our Summer Learning Exhibit, Summer Games in the City, open May 24 – September 2, 2024.  All our learning spaces are made possible through the generous investment of donors who understand the critical importance of early learning and holistic development for a child’s future well-being and success. 

We invite you to help us make this educational experience possible. The Training Grounds are ready and awaiting our smallest athletes to test their athletic, prosocial, collaborative, teamwork, and other skills this summer. Dive into adventurous play, competition and hands-on learning experiences that celebrate the vibrant spirit of the Summer Games.

This creative learning space is designed to enhance the most important developmental skills. From traditional competitive events to city-themed challenges, Summer Games in the City promises an impactful blend of teamwork, patience, and determination. Don’t miss out on your participation in helping to make it the perfect destination for families from near and far seeking a memorable summer experience. 

Children can compete in six different organized games or cheer on their friends. We offer golf, archery, gymnastics, basketball, karate/taekwondo, and BMX/Cycling to provide gross motor, collaborative and developmentally appropriate activities for our little ones to explore.

Whether you are a Champion or a Medalist – all contributions matter.  Pretend City memberships and general admission tickets cover approximately 70% of our operating budget and the remaining 30% is contributed through philanthropy. Without the sponsorship of organizations and individuals like you we would not be able to provide this amazing experience.
