JOIN US FOR AN EVENT DEDICATED JUST FOR BABIES >>
Once a month, Pretend City hosts a special event exclusively for parents and their infants, 18 months and younger. Baby Steps is a great way to introduce your child to new friends without the hustle and bustle of older children playing in the museum.
This special event also allows parents to ask questions about various topics while socializing with other parents in the community. This is your opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate activities and exhibits alongside other families with similarly aged children.
Bring your young children and enjoy age-appropriate facilitated activities that will teach you about your baby’s developmental milestones. You can also take a FREE Ages & Stages Questionnaire – a reliable way to screen your children for developmental delays in the first 5½ years of life.
Baby Steps occurs on the second Sunday of every month.
Beach: Lay your baby tummy down on a blanket or towel while sitting near their head. Use a toy or your voice to encourage your baby to lift their head and shoulders off of the blanket. At 6 months, they may try to reach for the toy while balancing on one arm. Try this to improve movement and strengthen muscles!
Home: Help your baby find small toys that you have hidden in bowls or cups. Show them how to dump the containers to get the toy. This increases their thinking and problem solving abilities!
Grocery Store: Let’s get talking! Help your toddler put away or restock groceries. Hand them specific items while naming and describing them. Your 18 month old may repeat the word.
Healthy Kids, Healthy Museum
To protect the health of Pretend City Children’s Museum community, we ask families to please only come play with us on days that everyone is feeling well.
