Donor Spotlight >>
We first began giving to Pretend City after attending the Smart Start Luncheon. We had visited Pretend City with our first daughter (who was then a year old). After hearing the incredible, thoughtful work Pretend City does to support the social emotional development of Orange County’s young children, inside and outside the museum, we knew we wanted to support that work on behalf of our children and all children in Orange County. Our daughters, especially our older daughter, are drawn to anything creative, so we especially enjoy donating to music and art projects.
The most important work Pretend City does is supporting the non-academic, social-emotional skills children need to be successful in school and life, and to contribute to a positive society. I wish everyone knew that Pretend City is so much more than a play place.
When I first heard about Pretend City, it was lumped in with play places that don’t have an educational mission. The entire museum is structured to support child development in a way that other entertainment centers are not. Our daughters have so much fun they don’t realize they are learning when they visit. Pretend City offers something for every child, whether your child attends preschool full time or has never been in a formal school setting. In other words, Pretend City complements all other formal and informal learning that happens in the early years.
Healthy Kids, Healthy Museum
To protect the health of Pretend City Children’s Museum community, we ask families to please only come play with us on days that everyone is feeling well.
