Purim
March 5, 2023
Today we celebrate this festive Jewish holiday including sweets, story times, and art activities. Purim is all about honoring the bravery of Queen Esther and her successful plan to save the Jews. The Purim story helps children learn about courage, bravery, and standing up for what’s right. Your kids will be able to learn about the meaning behind Purim.
Art (ALL DAY):
Exploration No. 1> Make a gragger out of yarn, plates, and beads to make some noise during the story of Purim!
Exploration No. 2> Cut out and decorate a mask using paper and bright oil pastels!
Exploration No. 3 (Sensory Table)> Explore rainbow rice, crowns, and jewels in our sensory bin!
Purpose: Through these activities, children will learn about different religions and an important story. They will make 3D structures, engage in sensory play, and practice their fine motor skills. They will also learn about cause and effect and engage their sense of sound with their graggers.
Story Time (TIMES 11 AM & 2:30 PM):
Synopsis: Nate loves aliens and he really wants to wear an alien costume for Purim, but his friends are all dressed as superheroes and he wants to fit in. What will he do? With the help of his two dads, he makes a surprising decision.
Cultural Implications (PM ONLY):
Make your own gragger to scare the bad spirits away!
*$2 off general admission if you wear a costume* This will only apply to those who purchase tickets at the door. This will not apply to presale.
