Baby Steps through Pretend City
November 14, 2021

Sunday, October 10 | 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Come and “fall” into feelings of gratitude at November’s Baby Steps as we celebrate autumn, Thanksgiving, and the importance of appreciation! Babies and toddlers are naturally egocentric (i.e. interested in themselves) – but by teaching your little one about gratitude, they become sensitive to the feelings of others. This helps them develop empathy and, ultimately, become an empathetic, kind adult!
Come in costume for our baby costume parade.
Purpose Behind the Play: Empathy and emotions, social competence, fine motor skills and dexterity, language and vocabulary development, and phonological awareness.
Specifically for: Infant (0-18 months), grownups. For the comfort of our infant guests, no older siblings please.
- Art Studio Sessions (8:00 AM – 9:30 AM ): Let’s get messy and creative with sponge painting! And for infants who want to explore textures without the wet mess, we have colorful sensory bins to explore.
- Circle Time (8:45 AM): Join us as we sit with our new friends, sing favorite songs, and listen to fun stories. And this month we’re incorporating finger play to help develop fine motor skills.
Play Partner: Pretend City’s Brain Builders and Pretendgineers and our Good to Go from Head to Toe Team
Grown-up Tip: Build onto what your young toddler says or points to. If your toddler points to a ball and says “Ba”, say “Yes! The ball is red.” It’s important to focus on the object first and then details like color, shape, and texture. This will help with identifying new objects as well as their receptive language
Don’t forget to pick up a free Ages & Stages Questionnaire! to ensure your little one is developing on track! They’re FREE, fast and easy!
RSVP: HERE| First come, first served; limited spaces available.
Fee: When you register online: $10 per adult, infants and Pretend City Members are FREE! $12 at the door
