White Cane Safety Day

Monday, October 16, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

White Cane Safety Day celebrates the independence and ability of people who are visually impaired. Today at Pretend City, children will learn about the challenges that children with visual impairments experience. The Blind Children’s Learning Center will help your child “see” the world in a new light as he/she partakes in different experiences that visually impaired children undergo.

Time: 10:00a.m. – 1:00p.m.

Activities and events will give your little ones a whole new appreciation for creative ways to “see” the world when your sight is impaired!

Play Partner: Blind Children’s Learning Center

Grown-up Tip: Explain to your child that children with special challenges may need help or adaptive equipment, like the white cane. Try to use clear, respectful language when talking about someone with disabilities. For a younger child, keep explanations simple, such as, “She uses a white cane to help her know where she can go.”

RSVP: Not required

Fee: Included with admission
