Mother’s Day

May 11 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Moms make everything better! Today we will be celebrating all mothers in all their forms for all the love, joy, and happiness they bring to our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day from our Pretend City family!

Join us from 12p-2p as Vilayvanh Bender leads us through a series of activities including Lei making, jumping rope with a Lao jump rope, eating fried grasshoppers and more!

About the Play Partner:

Vilayvanh Bender is a children’s book author and conducts presentations for schools, conferences, and events. She immigrated to America with her family as a young Vietnam War refugee.

Vilayvanh values the importance of cultural preservation and acceptance. Her book, Mommy Eats Fired Grasshoppers, is based on the original story of her childhood in Laos versus her daughter’s life in the United States. The award-winning book has reached and delighted readers across the globe. It made history by being the first Lao-American picture book ever published in Southern California.

Vilayvanh is also a private practice Registered Dietitian working with children and families. She hopes to inspire people to pursue their dreams, be proud of their heritage, and tell their stories.
