Friday, August 13 | 10 AM – 12 noon
Join us for a fun Way To Play Day, a special time designed to assist parents with finding answers to questions about their child’s development. This month’s Way to Play Day is all about language and communication skills! Play your way through the museum and let our stage staff show you how play can truly be educational.
Purpose Behind the Play: Whole body development, communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, social emotion expression.
Specifically, for: Infants (birth -12 months), Young Toddlers (12-24 months), Toddlers (2-4 years), Preschoolers (4-5 years); Grown-ups
Good to Go From Head to Toe, Pretend City’s child development initiative, together with our play partners, are here to assist you with:
- ASQ Developmental Check-ups (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM): Assess speech, motor, cognitive and social areas (first come, first served; limited spaces available). This month’s ASQ Screening performed by IUSD School Readiness and the Good To Go Program Coordinator.
- Dental Screenings (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM): The mission of Healthy Smiles is to improve the oral health of children in Orange County through collaborative programs directed at prevention, outreach and education, access to treatment, and advocacy.
Play Partner: The Good to Go from Head to Toe Team, Healthy Smiles, and Speech Path OC
Grown-up Tip: Respond to your baby’s gestures, sounds, and looks. When they reach for you ask if they want up and then pick them up. When they coo, coo right back at them. The more responsive you are to baby’s communication efforts the more they will be encouraged to develop these early communication skills.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Check-ups and activities are included with museum admission
