National American Indian & Alaskan Native Heritage Month

November 12, 2022

Art: Be inspired by animals of different regions that are an important part of not only native life, but our lives as well. Discover bison, seals, and elk, and use pastels to create your own! Paint and decorate pinecones to connect with the land and remember what the world gives to us! Explore the earth by playing with soil and natural materials like leaves and sticks!

Purpose: This day will encourage children to explore the natural world around them and learn the history of our land in a healthy way. They will learn about cause and effect, practice their fine motor skills, develop neuro-pathways, practice pencil skills, and practice healthy risk taking.

Grown-Up Tip: Inclusive learning environments teach children respect, accepting and appreciating differences, and understanding their own identity. Ask your child what characteristics make their friends special!
