Supporting Pretend City was about ensuring all kids have the opportunities our kids have been fortunate to experience. We deeply believe in Pretend City’s mission, and we’ve been blessed by others who believed in that mission as well. Supporting Pretend City felt like the right way to pay that forward.

The Health Center provides a unique opportunity for young children to grow comfortable in healthcare settings. It introduces them to the importance of preventive care and empowers them to be active participants in their own health from an early age. It’s essential that they learn to ask the right questions and understand what it means to care for their bodies as they grow.

“My kids practically grew up in Pretend City. Some of our favorite childhood memories involve Pretend City art classes, story times, and even building, farming, and fishing in the Marina. I believe my children are more comfortable in various environments and aren’t afraid to ask questions because of their experiences here. Pretend City has given them a tangible understanding of what it means to be part of a community. I can’t imagine a better investment in our community than supporting the development of our youngest members,” says Jessica Kwon, Pharm.D., MS-HIA, Vice President of Population Health. “MemorialCare’s commitment to the social, physical, and mental well-being of our community is perfectly aligned with Pretend City’s mission.
