Lacy’s Family

I found Pretend City when my daughter was 18 months old and fell in love with it. Sometimes I feel like I love it more than my kids do. It was something I really wanted to be a part of and I wanted to give the same opportunity to others who might not be able to experience Pretend City.

Pretend City allows kids to be themselves and explore the world their own way. As adults, I think sometimes we get so caught up in our own ways of how things are done, or how they should be done, that we forget kids have their own thoughts, ideas, & views of the world. They’re their own human beings. Pretend City gives them a place that they can be whatever they want to be and I think giving them that imaginative freedom is so important in sculpting who they’ll become.

I really enjoyed being involved in the Summer Soiree this year. Giving to “Treasure in the Bottle” and knowing other kids would be able to experience Pretend City was wonderful.  We sponsored two families to attend Autism Night. I think it’s so special & important to give kids with autism diagnoses somewhere that caters to them and allows them to feel safe and comfortable.

I wish everyone knew how important play and imagination is in children’s development. Pretend City gives them a space that nurtures their curiosities and imaginations about the world. It truly is such a special place. There is something for everyone. It gives your kids a chance to discover something they might love that they didn’t even realize.
