Covid 19 >>

All guests ages two and over are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth at all times. The Museum requires both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests and staff to wear a mask.

Guests may temporarily remove their masks when eating while sitting six feet from others outside of their household. All masks must be at least two layers, not have vents or valves, and scarfs, bandanas, and gaiters are not allowed. Those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine must still wear a mask and follow all safety protocols. Those who do not follow this policy will be asked to leave.

Visitors who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, fever, or recent loss taste or smell are asked to visit another time.

Everyone must follow all posted signs and directions from staff and other safety protocols.

Numerous hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the Museum.

The Museum is closed mid-day for deep cleaning and staff will be sanitizing touched surfaces throughout the day.

Additional protocols may be added or amended. Those who do not follow the safety protocols are subject to removal.

By purchasing a ticket, making a reservation and/or entering the Pretend City, you agree to hold harmless Pretend City Children’s Museum, its staff, and Board of Directors from any resulting injuries, illnesses, or other inherent risks to you and your family, including potential exposure to COVID-19.

We work hard to create a safe and clean museum experience. In that light, we expect parents to screen their children’s health and play responsibly. Please help ensure that Pretend City remains a healthy environment for everyone; if your child is sick we hope you’ll visit on a different day.

SECURITY MEASURES >>

Pretend City is designed as an adult & child interactive experience, just like most other children’s museums, amusement parks, and playgrounds. Adults are responsible for supervising their children at all times.

To assist parents/caregivers in keeping children safe in Pretend City, we have several security measures in place:

  • All staff members are in radio communication with one another at all times. Should children and parents/caregivers become separated there are standard procedures that are immediately put into effect to reunite guests quickly and efficiently. These procedures have been proven effective.
  • Security cameras record everyone leaving through the front door and the rear door leading outside from our Theater area.
  • NO ADULTS ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER PRETEND CITY WITHOUT A CHILD. Any adult that needs to enter the facility without a child is escorted through the exhibit floor by a staff member – there are no exceptions.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the Pretend City Security plan, please contact us.

How does Pretend City keep your city healthy?

Sick Policy

We work hard to create a safe and clean museum experience. In that light, we expect parents to screen their children’s health and play responsibly. Please help ensure that Pretend City remains a healthy environment for everyone; if your child is sick we hope you’ll visit on a different day.

Strive To Be Nut-Free

We ask our guest to refrain from bringing any type of food that contains peanuts or any other nuts into the facility. Many children have an extreme allergy to nuts; therefore, we strive to keep our facility nut-free.

The California Department of Public Health has said, “Measles is highly contagious and highly preventable through vaccinations. CDPH is urging caution to individuals who are not vaccinated, especially infants under 12 months. Any place where large numbers of people congregate and there are a number of international visitors, like airports, shopping malls and tourist attractions, you may be more likely to find measles, which should be considered if you are not vaccinated. It is absolutely safe to visit these places, including the Pretend City, if you are vaccinated. Therefore, CDPH recommends that anyone not already immunized against measles gets immunized at this time. Two doses of measles-containing vaccine (MMR vaccine) are more than 99 percent effective in preventing measles. If you are unsure of your vaccination status, check with your doctor to have a test to check for measles immunity or to receive vaccination.”

All Pretend City museum employees be vaccinated.
