Women’s Day
March 2, 2022

Wednesday, March 2
Did you know that a woman invented the circular saw? The newspaper? Today we will celebrate women and the impact they’ve made to society!
Play Purpose: exploration of interests, positive relationship building and social-emotional learning
Smart Art (on-going): Grateful for Girls>
- Using Tabitha Babbitt’s invention of the circular saw as inspiration, we will use “gears” to resemble the saw and explore painting with them!
- We will explore print and pastels to honor Claudia’s invention of the newspaper.
- Wangari Maathai planted trees so her community could grow. We will follow in her footsteps and plant our own trees!
Sensational Story Time in Orange Plaza (11 AM & 2:30 PM): This Big Little One > The irresistible full-color illustrations show the dreamers as both accessible and aspirational so the reader and listener know that they, too, can grow up to do something amazing.
Around The City: We will be highlighting many of the women from our sensational story throughout the city’s learning spaces and helping children to make the connections of the special and unique contributions.
Grown-up Tip: Embark upon an exploration and discovery of women who have changed our world based on your child’s specific interests – does your child enjoy painting? Reading? Math or Science? There are remarkable women who have made significant contributions and today we can celebrate these advancements. This technique will allow for meaningful connection to Women’s History month naturally and allow you to follow your child’s lead.
