Week of the Young Child
April 19, 2023
Join us for a fun-filled week celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities!
We promote high-quality early learning and understand the critical role early childhood educators play in a child’s development and learning.
Art (all day):
Exploration No. 1> Explore different instruments each day and practice painting with them!
Exploration No. 2> Create lots of different food using cooking tools and airdry clay!
Exploration No. 3 (Sensory Table)> Help us build our Pretend City Fort! Use a cloth, string, tape, and whatever else you can think of to help us build something incredible together!
Math/Science (10:30 am – 11:30a & 2:00 pm – 3:00pm):
Join us in our Construction Zone exploring new materials working with your friends to make it all happen! Our very own facilities team will spend time showing you the tools that help build up each space in Pretend City. We want you to get your hands on the real deal.
Purpose: Working together allows children to learn about their own needs in relation to others, they will learn empathy, patience, compromise and team work. Working together builds social and emotional foundations that ultimately lead to self-regulation and coping skills. Exploration of new materials supports cause/effect, tactile and hands-on experience with real tools.
About the play partner: Our very own facilities team is made up of three very talented people who have spent many years at Pretend City helping make us what we are today! Get the chance to spend time with the most talented men we know!
Purpose: These activities engage multiple days of this year’s Week of the Young Child. Children will explore music, paint, and food, and they will collaborate with each other to make something unique. They will learn about cause and effect, engage their social-emotional learning, and also develop their fine and gross motor skills.
