Pretend City Children’s Museum and Parentis Foundation are partnering for something truly magical at We Read Wednesdays, where Littles and Grans read together! Our wonderful Empowering Readers OC reading mentors are bringing the joy of storytelling into the playful world of Pretend City, where imagination comes alive and every corner invites discovery.
This partnership is so important because it introduces children to the love of books in a way that feels fun, welcoming, and shared. When young learners and older adult mentors gather in a place built for wonder, stories become more than words on a page. They become moments of connection, confidence, and inspiration across generations.
Together, Pretend City and Empowering Readers OC are creating a community where reading is joyful and every story sparks a love of reading.
TIME: 11am – 12pm
About the Play Partner:
Empowering Readers OC, a program of Parentis Foundation, provides evidence-based literacy intervention and intergenerational mentoring to students in grades 1–5 who are reading below grade level. By pairing trained older adult volunteers with students, the program builds strong reading skills, confidence, and a foundation for lifelong learning.
