TOOTH FAIRY DAY

Tooth Fairy Visit (throughout the day): The tooth fairy will be here handing out toothbrushes, posing for photos, and interacting with the children in our exhibits.
Free Dental Screenings: TIMES: 9am-12:30pm
Come get your teeth checked while we celebrate Tooth Fairy Day!
About the play partner: Myrna from OC Healthy Smiles
We will have free dental screenings from 9am to 12:30 pm on Tooth Fairy Day! Come and get your teeth checked out as we learn about dental health and hygiene!
Purpose: Provide our community with free resources, the connection between dental health and the tooth fairy, safe spaces to provide screenings.
Story Time/Puppet Show (TIMES 11am and 2:30pm) Cherine Wink and friends from Concorde are coming to put on a puppet show for us that dives into dental hygiene!
About the Play Partner: Concorde University and dental hygiene students
Smart Art: Toothbrushes can help with lots of things! Even painting! Practice splattering and brushing paint onto paper!
As we get older, some folks might need braces to help their teeth line up right! Explore colorful rubber bands and pegs to create unique shapes!
Explore and play with different types of toothpaste! Squeeze it all out, or just do a dollop at a time, and use toothbrushes to mix it around!
Purpose: While we focus on oral hygiene, kids will also focus on shape making, developing hand strength and fine motor skills, and harnessing creativity.
In the City (throughout the day 9am-4pm):
Labiba and the Delta Delta Sigma (DDS) students from UCI are coming into our space to spend time in the dental office as aspiring dentists to talk about the career path to being a dentist, dentistry in general and dental hygiene! They will have collateral and other materials to send home with children and families. They will be dressed in scrubs for this experience. They will also have a table outside of Trader Joes’s with collateral and additional information for families.
About the Play Partner: DDS are current pre-dental undergraduate students attending UCI! They are aspiring dentists who are interested in sharing their love for dentistry and helping people!
Purpose: The opportunity to see others in career paths, representation within that field, accurate information and knowledge, hands on and real life experiences without pressure of getting your teeth checked.
Grown-Up Tip: Teaching proper dental hygiene for little kids is easy, but getting them to follow through can be challenging. Books are always a fun approach to teaching life lessons and skills that our children need to know. Also, let your child create their own box, envelope, pillow, etc., to put their lost tooth in for the tooth fairy!
