Teddy Bear Picnic
“A goodly bunch having lunch.” – Yogi Bear
Calling all teddy bears and their cuddly kids! Join us for this special treat as we picnic, play, and have something to eat. Today we invite you to bring your favorite stuffed teddy bear and your own snacks as we gather for a community picnic inside the museum!
Purpose Behind the Play: Language and literacy development, number concepts, social emotional development, health, and nutrition
- Smart Art (All Day)
Exploration No. 1> We need a blanket to sit on! Cut out a variety of fabrics and glue them together to create something our friends will love!
Exploration No. 2> One of the most fun parts of a picnic is the basket! Practice weaving paper of different colors to put together something to hold all our goodies!
- Sensational Story Time (11AM, 2PM): We’re Going on a Bear Hunt > Go on a journey to search for a bear!
- Guests can picnic in the Museum (please use our red tablecloths to spread out your picnic feast)
- Music & Movement (directly following story time): We’re Going on a Bear Hunt This interactive listen and move song allows children to actively go through the journey that is described in the book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
Grown-up Tip: Music can be very soothing for babies especially when fussy and upset. Try playing various types of music with different sounds to see what your baby prefers! Music has many benefits including language skills, cognitive skills, repetition and of course, rhythm and movement.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Included with museum admission; Bring your favorite Teddy bear for $1.00 off general admission ticket! Discounted ticket purchase only applicable through in-person purchase at front desk.
