Remembering Veteran’s Day
November 11, 2021
Thursday, November 11
Today at Pretend City we’re recognizing our Veterans with educational activities and memorable events. This day is dedicated to teaching our young guests about why we appreciate our veterans and how we can show our appreciation. Join us as we show our respect and celebrate those who have sacrificed for our freedom!
Purpose Behind the Play: Prosocial behavior, social-emotional development, gross, locomotor, and fine motor development, and literacy.
- Smart Art (Times Vary): Remembrance Wreath: Celebrate this special day in our Art Studio by adding to our remembrance wreath. This community project is an artistic way to show appreciation for our service members while making new friends.
- Let’s Move: Atten-tion! Calling all cadets! It’s time to get physical in this mini (not too strenuous) boot camp. Come hone your gross motor skills as we duck, march, and jump into formation.
- Sensational Story Time: Join us in Orange Plaza as we read the heartwarming story, Hero Mom which will teach your children about our nation’s veterans and why we honor them on this special day.
Grown-up Tip: A great way to teach your child about veterans is to talk to one. Do you have veterans in your family, neighborhood, or community who would enjoy sharing their story with you and your child? A simple conversation gives you both insight into the narrative of a real-life hero. It’s likely to be eye-opening, heart-warming, and leave you feeling both grateful and admirable for these great heroes.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Included with museum admission
