Join us for a Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Pretend City!
Art (all day):
- Exploration #1-(infant) Color sorting
- Exploration #2-Paper weaving
- Sensory: Colored Rice
Purpose: Learn color-matching hand & eye coordination, pincer grasp, and weaving colored paper using fine motor skills.
Story Time (TIMES: 11 am & 2:30 pm) Thread Of Love by Kabir Sehgal & Surishtha Sehgal

Create your own Rahki for a sibling and/or loved one:
Purpose: Creating presents for others helps develop a sense of empathy and social/emotional development. This activity also focuses on fine motor development, concentration and focus, creative expression, bilateral coordination and visual motor skills!
HSS is bringing traditional Raksha Bandhan materials to our space for children to touch, feel and explore. Learn more about Hindi culture!
Music & Movement: We will play traditional Raksha Bandhan-inspired music while we work on creating Rahki’s!
Purpose: Listening to music while working supports children’s developing skills of managing emotions, builds self-confidence, encourages teamwork and supports relationship building!

Grown-up tip: Rahki is a thread of protection for a loved one. What other ways can we show our love and support for family and friends? Brainstorm with your child and create a new way to show love and the power of friendship.
