Passover Preparation Celebration
March 16 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Get ready to celebrate Passover in style at Pretend City! Join us for a special Passover Preparation Celebration, where kids can learn about the holiday’s traditions, enjoy fun activities, and get in the spirit of the season. Don’t miss out on this exciting event!
Art (ALL DAY):
Exploration No. 1> Make a seder plate using clay that can be fired in our very own Pretend City Kiln!
Exploration No. 2 (Sensory Table)> Attempt to part our sensory bin sea using Lincoln logs and different scooping materials!
Purpose: Clay is an excellent way for children to learn about cause and effect, patience, and 3D modeling. They will also gain hand strength, and explore different sensations in our sensory bin. Today is also a great day for children to learn about other cultures and religions, which will develop their social-emotional skills.
Model Matza Bakery (11 am ONLY):
Rabbi Sender is coming to help us prepare to Passover with the making of Matza! Children will learn about the exodus from Egypt and will have the opportunity to use flour, roll it into dough and learn about the process that Matzah bakeries typically go through. Take home the Matzah that you make!
This series of workshops inject new and exciting energy into ancient traditions and mitzvot. Abstract and old rituals are infused with meaning and purpose.
Purpose: Exposure to new cultures, strengthening fine motor skills, supporting play within learning and support children’s developing understanding of their sense of self and their community!
About the play partner: Rabbi Sender directs sgi.camp and runs jcraftsoc.com with the mission of encouraging hands-on learning while building strong character and awareness of culture and tradition in students from all walks of life.
