National Ice Cream Day

Get ready for a sweet and chilly celebration as Pretend City invites you to join us for National Ice Cream Day, a frosty festivity like no other!
Art (all day):
Exploration No. 1> Cool off using watercolor popsicles!
Exploration No. 2>= Scoop up your cream flavor!
Exploration No. 3 (Sensory Table)> Explore ice and glitter in our sensory bin!
Purpose: Today will encourage kids to engage their sense of touch and explore different cold sensations. They will learn about cause and effect, develop neuropathways, and gain hand strength through playing with playdoh. Children will also engage their sense of imagination and develop their creativity.
Math/Science (11 AM and 2:30 PM):
Ice Cream Making: Come visit our pretend ice cream stand in the
orange plaza! With a little conditioner and cornstarch, engage in sensory play and help us make pretend ice cream!
- 2 Heaping cups of cornstarch
- 1 Cup Scented Conditioner (Suave Coconut or Strawberry)
Purpose: Using ingredients and following instructions supports children’s developing math and science skills, encourages adventurous palates, supports children exploring their senses, and boosts confidence!
Ice Cream Tasting (directly following ice cream making):
After we make our own ice cream, we will invite our guests to our community rooms to taste ice cream that will be donated by our vending machine representative, Dan! Enjoy your choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream to help us celebrate ice cream day!
