Lunar Event/My Place in Space

Get ready to blast off into the universe and explore the galaxy in a variety of fun and educational activities!
Art (all day):
Exploration No. 1> Constellations!
Exploration No. 2> Rocket making!
Exploration No. 3 (Sensory Table)> Explore!
Purpose: These activities will allow children to explore the universe beyond themselves in new and creative ways. They will learn about being a part of a community, work with 3D structures, practice scissor skills and fine motor skills, and develop neuropathways through sensory play.
Storytime (11 am & 2:30 pm)

Come Talk with an Astronomer!
Former astronomer speak with you! Spend time listening to stories, asking questions and learning more about our solar system!
Purpose: Supports children’s developing understanding of their place in space- understanding their sense of self, early exposure to careers, supports curiosity and the development of curiosity.
About the play partner: Ken Kramer is a Southern California native although he’s lived in 3 other states and 2 different countries, traveling throughout the world. He was a Planetarium lecturer at the Griffith Observatory here in LA and gave numerous space-related shows to school children from all over Southern California. He’s also acted as co-producer for the History Channel providing content for space and science fiction-related programming.
