Lohri
January 15, 2022

Saturday, January 15
It’s time to put on your Patiala or Kurta Payjama as we celebrate Lohri, the Festival of Harvest! In honor of the holiday, we’ll be lighting up (pretend) bonfires throughout The City! This celebration of togetherness and gratitude will surely warm your heart as special guests tell us all about their traditions from the Punjab region of India!
Purpose Behind the Play: Social and emotional development, number concepts, cultural diversity, language and concept development.
Smart Art (on-going):
- Building Kites> We’ll have an array of loose parts for your little one to create with through an exploration of engineering and kites!
- The Color of Warmth > An artistic exploration of the colors of fire.
- The Natural Feel of The World > Our sensory table will be filled with natural materials for your child to touch and discover.
Music & Movement (2:30 PM): Our young friends from the Dhwani Dance Academy are here to put on a special, Lohri performance!
Grown-up Tip: By helping your child understand and respect the similarities and differences of others, you also help your child to understand who she is. By being open to exploring other cultures, languages, and traditions – and discussing your own familial history —you will undoubtedly provide your child with meaningful information, while also exploring educational anthropological, historical, religious, and geographical concepts and topics.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Included with admission
