Jewish American Heritage Month
May 15, 2022
Sunday, May 15
Discover, explore, and celebrate the vibrant and varied American Jewish experience with us on this special day!
Purpose Behind the Play: Social-emotional development, self-regulation, color identification, critical thinking, and locomotor movement.
Smart Art (on-going):
- Feathers & Ink: Join us as we explore the traditional ink and feather writing tools to understand the literacy in the Torah.
Sensational Story Time in Orange Plaza (12 PM & 3:30 PM):
- My First Jewish Baby Book: This board book gives readers an introduction to Judaism. It covers foods, meaningful rituals, lively holidays, language, and more!
Cooking & Culture (immediately following storytime):
- Braided Bread Making: Come join us in making the traditional Jewish braided bread with your little one! We will provide the dough and you will work with your little one to roll, pat and create a traditional braided bread to share with your family! Typically this bread gets eaten on a Friday night so freeze it and enjoy it on Friday with your family!
Grown-up Tip: Jewish Americans have made many great contributions to our American culture. Continue your exploration by visiting a local Jewish Museum, or engage in a virtual exploration HERE. You can also listen to Jewish music on Spotify, support a local Jewish organization, or purchase items from a Jewish creator on Etsy. For more ideas see HERE.
