Grandparent’s Day
September 11, 2022

Smart Art (all day): Check out our card making station, where little ones are able to make a card for their loved ones using stencils and paper!
Experience finger painting with the provocation of flowers! Each finger is a different size, meaning you can make flowers of all different kinds!
(Sensory Table)> Explore different types of yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks and learn how to create lovely gifts!
Purpose: Today’s activities will allow children to think about the older individuals in their lives and assist in their social emotional development. They will develop fine motor skills, experiment with cause and effect, develop early math skills, and engage with one another.
Music & Movement (TIMES: 11am-12:30pm & 2:30pm-3:30pm):
Peggy Calvert and other senior Ukulele musicians are coming into our space to do a full hands-on interactive Ukulele performance! The musicians will play 2-3sets, 4-5songs in each set. There will a break in between each set and they will allow the guests to handle and strum the ukuleles.
Purpose: Early exposure to a variety of musical instruments, music theory, harmony, learning beats, melodies, rhythm and tempo!
About the play partner: Peggy Calvert has been playing the Ukulele and teaching others to play for many years! She has worked in recreation centers, museums and in the theatre world!
Grown-up Tip: A grandparent can play a key role in a child’s life especially when they are the main caregiver. They can support a child by building trust, providing encouragement, and a nurturing home environment-all needed to support healthy child development.
