Fall Festival of Fun!
September 22, 2021
Wednesday, September 22nd
It’s time to fall in love with this change in seasons! The leaves are turning, and the weather is shifting which means there is lots of fun to had here at Pretend City. Let’s celebrate with art, games, books, and sensory play as we have fun with fall!
Purpose Behind the Play: Sensory play and artistic discovery, concept development through curiosity and exploratory behavior, inquiry through observation and investigation, literacy and language development, spatial awareness and directionality
- Smart Art (Times Vary): Nature is calling and we’re answering in the Art Studio. Bring your little artist in to paint with unusual tools you find in the fall.
- Nature Tales (11 AM & 2 PM): Gourds, gourds, everywhere! Roll on over as we use our senses to investigate this mysterious fall fruit. We’ll touch, explore, and even taste our way through learning about this ornamental food.
- Sensational Storytime (11:30 AM & 2:30 PM): Join us in Orange Plaza for a reading of Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger. We’ll practice climbing high, going through, and stepping over on our quest to find these colorful pieces of fall.
Grown-up Tip:Make a leaf book with your child. Repeat the simple sentence “My leaf is a __ leaf.” Change the leaf color on each page. Have your child draw that colored leaf on the page. Take it a step further by going on a nature hike and finding the colored leaves to glue into the book.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Included with museum admission
