Eid al-Fitr Celebration
May 16, 2021

Sunday May 16th
Ramadan is over and we’re celebrating Eid al-Fitr at Pretend City! This Muslim holiday is a celebration intended for enjoyment, forgiveness, and feasting. Your little one will enjoy learning about these cultural traditions through activities, books, and more.
Purpose Behind the Play: Social and emotional development, collaboration, language and literacy development.
- Holiday History (12:00 pm and 3 pm): Eid is a joyous celebration marked by warm greetings and gift giving. Join us as we greet new friends and create artwork which we can gifted to someone special.
- Sensational Storytime (12:15 and 3:15 pm): For Muslims, Ramadan is a time for fasting, prayer, and thinking of others. Rashad tries to be good all month. When it’s time for Eid al-Fitr, he feasts and plays! Find out how people celebrate this special time of year.
Grown-up Tip: In Islam, children are taught in their early childhood that charity giving is highly encouraged as long as they are financially able to do so. This month in celebration of Ramadan think of ways that you can model charity to your children. If you are financially able, you can donate to our educational programs HERE. Your donations will go to programs such as our FREE monthly Autism Nights, FREE Health Screenings, and Field Trip scholarships for children in poor communities. If you are not financially able to donate and would still like to give back to your community, Pretend City has many volunteer opportunities that you can participate in.
