Dia de los Muertos Celebration
November 1, 2020
Hola Amigos! Dia De los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Hispanic tradition that celebrates loved ones who have passed. At Pretend City, we are celebrating Dia de los Muertos with vibrant, educational activities for little ones. Bring a copy of a photo of your loved one to add to our special Altar and partake in the celebration!
Purpose Behind the Play: Social emotional development, number concept development, literacy and language development, and communication.
- Smart Art (Times Vary): Sugar Skulls > Colorful skulls are a symbol of Dia de los Muertos. Stop by the Art Studio to create your colorful skull using rainbow bright colors and different materials.
- Sensational Story time (11:30am & 2:30pm): Dia de los Muertos > It’s time to remember loved ones who have passed on from this life. Join us for this short story that introduces the traditions of this celebration and how we can honor our deceased loved ones. After the story, children will make their very own marigold to take home.
Grown-up Tip: Anyone can celebrate the memory of departed loved ones on this special day. Visit this great LINK for more ideas for how to talk to your young children about Dia de los Muertos.
