Cooking in the City

Join us at for Cooking in the City for a taste of Sri Lanka with our delicious Falooda! Immerse yourself in the flavors and aromas of this beloved South Asian drink, crafted with care and a touch of nostalgia.
Art (all day):
Exploration No. 1> Make flowers
Exploration No. 2>Metallic markers
Exploration No. 3 (Sensory Table)>Water with jewels
Purpose: Children will explore drip paint using fine motor skills and pincer grasp. Using new mediums to bring shine and sparkle with metalliac markers on black paper.
Cultural Implications (TIMES: 11 am & 2:30 pm)
Ingredients: Falooda packet(Includes Rose Powder, Chia Seeds, Milk, Vermicelli), Milk, Red Jell-O Packet, Vanilla Ice Cream.
Recipe for 4 liters:
1. Bring milk to boil. Add falooda packet to the milk, and stir continuously till the packet contents dissolve, Transfer the Falooda to the fridge to cool.
2. Separately boil water for Jell-O, and add Jell-O packet, pour into a separate container, and also leave in the fridge to cool.
3. Take out serving cups, scoop out Jell-O into the bottom of the cup, Add the Falooda drink, and top off with a scoop of Ice Cream.
About the play partner: Our very own Brainbuilder and Pretendgineer, Kaveen and Vinuthi will share Falooda. Falooda is a drink enjoyed by many South Asian Countries. The main flavor and aroma are Rose. It was a comforting drink my sister and I enjoyed in Sri Lanka, and is a very nostalgic childhood drink. There are many flavors and textures in the drink which combine to give a unique flavor.
