Celebrate Rosh Hashanah

September 8, 2021

Wednesday, September 8th

It’s time to celebrate the festival of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Children will learn all about this Jewish holiday through stories, sweet traditions, and more.

Purpose Behind the Play: social emotional development and understanding, language and literacy development, cultural sensitivity

  • Smart Art (Times Vary): Let’s prepare for the celebration by making our own shofars and getting artsy with apples. Where else can your little one be encouraged to play with food and make lots of noise?
  • Sensational Story Time (11 AM & 2 PM): Join us as we gather around to celebrate the world’s birthday. This simple story points out the similarities in our differences and teaches us a bit about Rosh Hashanah! After the story we’ll enjoy a traditional snack of apples and honey.

Grown-up Tip: Do you know why apples are dipped in honey for Rosh Hashanah? Or why the shofar is blown? Encourage your child to learn more about Jewish High Holidays by integrating technology into hands-on activities in your home. Begin with making a candy apple together. Eat the apple while watching videos such as “Tap Into Rosh Hashana!” to learn about the special holiday.

RSVP:    Not required

Fee:    Included with museum admission
