Celebrate Hajj
July 21, 2021

Wednesday July 21st
It’s that time of the year when the pilgrimage to Mecca begins! Muslims across the globe are preparing for their holy voyage and we are preparing to partake in some unique activities that celebrate the culture and traditions of Hajj.
Purpose Behind the Play: Social competence, pro-social skills, language and reading development
- Smart Art (Times Vary): Capture the moment of this journey by creating your own Ka’bah painting.
- Holiday History: Our friends from the Islamic Center of Irvine will be here to share with us the traditions of this sacred pilgrimage. Activities will include a unity fingerprint mural; Equality dress up station and a Hajj matching game.
- Sensational Story Time: Gather with us as we read this sweet poem picture book that encourages love and understanding of the rituals and practices of Hajj.
Grown-up Tip: Learning about diverse cultures is important to understanding the community we live in. Pretend City is a great environment to learn about diversity. By being exposed to other cultures children become aware of all the similarities and differences in our daily lives. Talking about different cultures opens your child’s mind to new experiences.
