Baby Steps

Dedicated for children 18 months and younger, Pretend City will host TWO Baby Steps programs a month on the first Tuesday (starting in 2025) and second Sunday. This program is a great way to socialize your little one and offers new learning opportunities in a safe space. This is perfect for first time parents who can engage with one another, learn about other resources in the community, all while playing without older children in the museum.

This event features a story time at 8:45am in Orange Plaza and finishes off the morning in our grand exit parade.

About the play partner: 

Jennifer Ellis is an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with over a decade of experience as a Baby Care Expert. Her main focus is to support parents in navigating the complexities of newborn behavior, sleep patterns, and infant feeding. With a specialized emphasis on breastfeeding, Jennifer has successfully helped numerous families overcome common obstacles such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, low milk production, inadequate weight gain, and even induced lactation.

Their vision is for all young children in Orange County to have healthy social and emotional development and access to early mental health supports. Start Well supports ECE providers and families to ensure they are skilled and competent in providing a nurturing environment focused on social and emotional well-being and behavioral health of all children.
