Celebrate World Kindness Day

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

World Kindness Day

What does it mean to be kind?

Join us on World Kindness Day to find out!  We will have a hands-on Giving Activity, story time, and coloring crafts all geared around kindness. Let’s teach the importance of kindness to the world, one child at a time!

Time:    Morning Activities:  Sensational Story Time & Courtesy Role Play @ 11:30 a.m.

Afternoon Activities:  Sensational Story Time @ 3:30 p.m.

  • Art Studio Sessions: K is for Kindness Coloring > What’s better than learning letters? Learning a life lesson, too! Children will color and decorate the letter K for Kindness.
  • Art Studio Sessions: Thinking of You Letter > Children will be able to write a letter to someone they love telling them why they are special! The letters can be mailed from our Post Office or taken home as a craft for later!
  • Sensational Story Time & Courtesy Role Play (11:30am): During the reading of Be Polite and Kind by Cheri J. Meiners, your child will learn polite phrases and kind acts that they can do for others. Following the story, children will be invited to participate in a courtesy role play pretend tea party where they can practice the new manners that they have learned during the story time.
  • Activity/Donation Booth: Give some, get some! > Following storytime, we will be giving the children an opportunity to put their kindness to practice. We will be pairing up with Kind Snacks, and for every “dollar” donation, the children will receive one Kind bar! There will also be a collection box of donations for Pretend City Museum so parents can practice their kindness, too!
  • Sensational Story Time (3:30pm): How Full is Your Bucket? > Follow Felix as he learns that each of us has an invisible bucket that is filled or emptied through our everyday interactions with others. When your bucket is full you feel amazing and when it is empty, we feel awful. Learn how to keep your bucket full and tips for how to help fill the buckets of others in this heartwarming story written by Tom Rath & Mary Reckmeyer.

Grown-up Tip: It is important that children see examples of applied kindness by their role models. Pretend City always graciously accepts donations of any kind. Please visit our Donate page for a detailed list of ways you can make a difference in the City.
