Squirrel Appreciation Day

Squirrel Appreciation Day is an opportunity to enjoy and appreciate your neighborhood squirrels. There’s more to this animal than being a little nutty. Come and learn more about this incredible creature!

Activity Times:   Morning Activities: Math Matters @ 11:00am

Afternoon Activities: Sensational Storytime @ 3:30pm

  • Art Studio Sessions: Squirrely Art > It’s getting” squirrely in the art studio today. Let’s get nuts about art with a squirrel themed art activity.
  • Math Matters (11:00am): Counting Nuts > Today we will be counting and sorting nuts as we learn one-to-one correspondence.
  • Sensational Storytime (3:30pm): Nuts to You! > It’s summer in the city, and a rascally squirrel is up to all sorts of tricks. He digs and eats and zips and hides, but when he sneaks inside an apartment window, it’s time for a nutty solution to get him out.

Grown-up Tip: Go on a squirrel hunt with your child this winter at a local park or on a local hiking trail. Count each squirrel that you see and talk about the activities that you see them engaging in. Activities like this will help your child develop valuable communication skills.
