Arbor Day

Celebrate Arbor Day!

Friday, April 26

Trees are not only beautiful, but they are very essential to our existence as human beings! Join us as we celebrate their importance with some tree-rific activities

Purpose Behind the Play: Cognition and inquiry, classification through sorting, self-regulation, and language and literacy development

  • Smart Art (Art Studio – Times Vary): Leaf Prints – We will be using leaves and tempera paints in the Art Studio today to make leaf prints. Bring in some leaves from the trees in your yard to share and we will explore the different leaves in our community.
  • Sensational Story Time (11:00 am)A Grand Old Tree  Gather around as we read a sweet story about a grand old tree whose roots sank deep into the earth and whose arms reached high into the sky.
  • Math Matters (3:00 pm): Nature Sort > Some are big, and some are small, we need your help to sort them all! Gather around as we explore various objects from different types of trees and sharpen your math skills as we sort according to size, shape, and color.

Grown-up Tip:  Plant a tree with your child! The long-term benefits of this simple activity are phenomenal! Trees help cool your neighborhood, provide food and remove harmful pollutants from the ozone. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, just one mature tree can produce 260 pounds of oxygen and trap 35-800 pounds of carbon dioxide each year!
