Purpose Behind the Play: Self-Identity, Music and Movement, Literacy

Each Thursday, Pretend City will learn about an influential African American figure in American History. Children will have the opportunity to learn about each figure through stories, songs, art activities, and pictures. Join us every Thursday for a chance to celebrate Black History Month at Pretend City.

Purpose Behind the Play: Music, Dance, Language, Comprehension of Text, Identity of self in Relation to Others, Curiosity and Initiative in Learning

Smart Art (3:00 pm): I Am Special Quilt> Let’s work collaboratively to create a unique quilt piece with the outline of our hand while attaching them together to show the diversity within Pretend City! Join us to add your handprint to our quilt!

Sensational Storytime (11:30 a.m ): Max found two sticks> Pat.. pat-pat! Let’s take out our music sticks as we play along with the story Max Found Two Sticks. ·

Cultural Connection (3:00 pm):  Shades of People > Join us after reading Shades of People to color mix paint to find the shade of your skin tone. Build language and explore colors while investigating the recipe of your unique shade.
