Family Autism Night – February

Monday, February 25 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for a special event that provides a sensitive environment for children on the autism spectrum, as well as children with disabilities, and their families. With the help of our Community Play Partners, and Pretend City’s experienced and educated team, discover different activities while exploring the museum and learning to interact with peers.

Specifically For: Families with children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum or have a disability, as well as therapists and behavioral coaches. Pretend City will be closed to the general public.

Time: 5:00p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Featured Focus: Social Interactions and Friendships

Art Studio: Join us in the Art Studio for a Community Art Project where we learn to share as we create something magical!

Grown-up Tip:  Reinforce what your child does well socially — use behavior-specific praises and concrete reinforcement if needed to shape pro-social behavior. For example: when your child says, “Thank you”, make sure to respond back with a positive praise such as, “Great job using your manners and saying ‘thank you’!” or if he/she keeps a nice distance from another person (personal-space), say to them, “Good job keeping your hands to yourself!”.

RSVP: Registration Required Click Here; max: 300 guests* | Fee: Free to children on the autism spectrum, and other disabilities and their families

*Only guests with a reservation and a confirmation number will be admitted.

Many of our community partners, who specialize in supporting children on the autism spectrum, will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support. Watch a video tour of our museum here.
