Superior Grocers believes in the power of play and family connection. For Superior Grocers, supporting the community is about more than writing a check. It is about showing up, building connections, and investing in the children and families who make a community strong.
Superior Grocers has proudly championed its growing partnership with Pretend City Children’s Museum, supporting the museum’s mission to create meaningful opportunities for children to learn, explore, and grow through the power of play.
“Pretend City’s mission to support children and families resonates deeply with our company’s commitment to the communities we serve.”
Superior Grocers’ relationship with Pretend City began with a shared belief that children deserve opportunities to learn and develop in ways that feel joyful, engaging, and natural. That belief has grown into a meaningful partnership, including sponsorship of Pretend City’s Playraiser: Building Big Dreams. This year, Superior Grocers’ commitment is represented at the event through Janice Song Fisher, who is serving as a Co-Chair.
Play is at the heart of Pretend City’s work. At the museum, children are not simply having fun. They are practicing independence, building confidence, learning how to interact with others, and discovering the world through curiosity and imagination.
“There is something powerful about watching a child discover something for the first time. Maybe it is taking on a new role, interacting with another child, figuring out how something works, or proudly accomplishing something on their own. These seemingly small moments can be big milestones – and they are a reminder of just how much learning can happen through play.”
That philosophy is one of the reasons Superior Grocers is proud to support Pretend City. As a company that serves families every day, Superior Grocers understands that strong communities begin with investing in children and creating opportunities for families to connect.
That commitment extends beyond the Playraiser. Superior Grocers is also proud to support Museums for All, helping make Pretend City’s experiences accessible to more families. Through this support, Superior Grocers is helping ensure that more children can experience the joy, discovery, and connection that Pretend City offers.
Janice Song Fisher’s role as Playraiser Co-Chair provides another opportunity to champion Pretend City’s mission and bring people together around the importance of early childhood development. Through her leadership, she is helping raise awareness of the critical role play has in children’s formative years while encouraging others to become part of Pretend City’s community of supporters.
Superior Grocers hopes more people will take the time to experience Pretend City for themselves – to see the excitement on a child’s face, watch their imagination come to life, and recognize the thought and purpose behind every experience.
For those considering supporting Pretend City, there are many meaningful ways to get involved. Attend an event. Volunteer. Make a gift. Show up.
“Every act of support helps create more opportunities for children to learn and families to connect.”
For Superior Grocers, supporting Pretend City is ultimately about believing in what is possible when a community comes together for its children and families. It is an investment in children’s curiosity today, their confidence tomorrow, and the future of the community we all share.
