Way to Play Adventure Guide
By trying the simple and entertaining play activities in this guide at Pretend City, you will learn how your child´s motor, communication, social and thinking skills are developing. View our Way to Play Adventure Guide! Some example activities include:
Strengthen muscle skills for a birth to 6 month old: Baby wiggles his arms or legs while on his stomach in the waiting room of the Health Center. Try using a puppet to gain baby's attention.
Strengthen communication and expression skills for a 13 to 18 month old: Play with play dough or the daily activity with your toddler in the Art Studio. Ask her which activity is her favorite and why.
Strengthen play and social skills for a 2 to 3 year old: Play make-believe with playmates, adults, or dolls in the amphitheater. Dress up, sing, dance and put on a show with your child.
Strengthen thinking and problem solving skills for a 3 to 4 year old: While in the Health Center, encourage your child to tell you a story about the last time he was at the doctor's office. Start with, "Tell me about the last time you saw the doctor" and encourage 5- 6 word sentences.
2-for-1 admission on every Way to Play Day: Let's learn together!
Use your Way to Play Adventure Guide on the second Friday of each month to learn more about your child's growth and development while interacting with your child in a variety of fun activities. Each Way to Play day will highlight a particular developmental skill, like communication, and offer community specialists on-site for support. Way to Play day activities and special giveaways are included the price of museum admission.
