Monday, August 2 – Friday, August 6 – Operation School Bell: Back to School, After School Special

Kick off a child's education! In honor of the fast approaching first day of school, Pretend City will be collecting complete backpack and school supply donations for Families Forward Back-to-School program. This program provides at-risk children with new backpacks and required school supplies which can help to increase their test scores and prepare them for a successful future!
For every backpack donation Pretend City will allow 1 free child's admission after 2:00p.m. Backpacks must, at a minimum, include the following:
  • - Glue sticks (Three will get a child through the school year)
  • - No. 2 pencils (Stick with this classic to avoid classroom competition over whose writing utensil is the coolest — or most impractical.)
  • - Box of Crayons
  • - A pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings to help the teacher)
  • - A large pink eraser (The old-fashioned ones do the best erasing!)
  • - A small three-ring binder
  • - Loose-leaf notebook paper
  • - Pocket folders (If you get a folder with two pockets, children will be able to label one "keep at home" and the other "bring to school" to help your child organize his papers.)
Time: 2:00p.m. – 4:30p.m.

 

 

Tuesday, August 10 – Rockin' Style Salon!

It's time for our Rockin' Raffle where guests can purchase tickets throughout the day ($25 per ticket or $100 for 5 tickets) to win one year's worth of service from Dusty Simington at Salon Gregories. This includes:
  • - 1 haircut (including color) every 4-6 weeks for one year
  • - A blow dry once a week
  • - During the Christmas / New Year's week, Blow dry twice a week
  • - Conditioner once a week
  • - And, one year supply of Kronos product!
Children will have fun with some "hair-raising" activities where they can pretend to be Dusty in our Pretend City salon! The art studio will be transformed into a salon where children can use Kronos products combined with their artistic talents to marry color, cuts and textures into progressive hair styles, apply "make-up", and choose a rock star outfit!

**Monday, August 23 – Friday, August 27 – Wonderful 1's Week!**

We're turning 1, so we want all of the one year olds to come to Pretend City and celebrate with us! All week long any child who is one year old will receive free admission to Pretend City. This admission will include developmentally appropriate programs and events that are specially designed for grown-ups and their one year old. Some of these engaging events include:
  • - Monday, August 23 - Music Together Class
  • - Tuesday, August 24 - Smiling Monkey - Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga
  • - Wednesday, August 25 - Abrakadoodles – Baby Art Experience
  • - Thursday, August 26 - ABC Me Sign – Baby Sign Classes
  • - Friday, August 27 - My Gym - Tiny Tykes Gym Classes
Time: All Week Long!
