Celebrate Mardi Gras!
February 9, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
*Activities times will vary throughout the day.
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
We’re throwing a party for Mardi Gras! Even though New Orleans is miles away, we’ll sing and dance and have great fun as we celebrate friends and family! This celebration of carnival and family will let you share in the traditions and culture of Mardi Gras in a kid-friendly way. Activities will include:
- Smart Art: Join us in the art studio as we explore the meaning of symbolic Mardi Gras colors and make icon pieces to complete your very own costume.
- Café Creations: Visit the Real Café to learn about and “bake” your very own Kings Cake.
- Carnival for Kids: From the floats to the beads your children will enjoy participating in their very own carnival. Designing their floats in the art studio and donning them during the parade!
Play Partner: Pretendgineers and Brain Builders, our experienced stage staff of trained early childhood and child development educators, and grown-ups.
Grown-up Tip: Try a new Cajun recipe at home tonight! Make a grocery list with the ingredients you will need. At the grocery store, let your shopper find the items on the list. Including your children in choosing these new food items will make them more likely to eat them at home, thus getting your child to try new foods, a challenge many parents struggle with.
RSVP: Not required
Fee: Included with museum admission
*Activities are subject to change and limited to availability.
