  • Book A Field Trip

    Pretend City offers fun, educational, and hands-on play for preschool – 2nd graders! Our field trips are aligned with Common Core standards and Preschool Learning Foundations. Field trips are available Monday – Thursday only. All field trips include:

    • • Two (2) hours of free exploration on museum floor
    • • ½ hour reserved lunch time in our Community Rooms
    • • 15 minute set aside for arrival & departure
    • • ½ hour lesson (Guided Field Trips only)

     Guided field trips includes an additional ½ hour lesson.

  • Self-Guided/Guided

    Self-Guided field trips include Play Your Way.

    Guided field trips include Explore With Us, $mart Citizens, Recycle City.

  • Required Chaperones

    0-3 year olds – 1 Adult: 3 Children
    4-7 year olds – 1 Adult: 5 Children
    8+ year olds – 1 Adult: 8 Children

    Chaperones in ratio are free! Any additional chaperones above the required ratio are $9.00/chaperone.

    $9.00/student for self-guided field trip
    $10.00/student for guided field trip

  • Reservation Process

    Planning a field trip to Pretend City is easy with our step-by-step instructions. All reservations are subject to availability on a first come, first serve basis. All reservations will be processed within 7 days of receipt of the reservation packet

  • Step 1

    Read up about the different field trip offerings.

    Download and complete the appropriate Field Trip Reservation Packet or Scholarship Application found below. 

  • Step 2

    Return the completed packet and $50 non-refundable* deposit via:

    1. Email fieldtrips@pretendcity.org

    2. Fax to (949) 428-3908 (Attn: Field Trips)

    3. Or mail to: Pretend City Children’s Museum, Attn: Field Trips, 29 Hubble, Irvine, CA 92618

    *Deposit does not apply to scholarships

  • Step 3

    Upon Pretend City’s receipt of your Field Trip Reservation Packet and deposit we will contact you via email with a Deposit Confirmation & Invoice. This will include your final payment due date and invoice. Final payment and final count are due 3 weeks prior to your visit date.

  • Step 4

    Once final payment has been received, a Final Confirmation will be sent to you via e-mail. This will include your receipt, full itinerary, bus parking map, and chaperone instructions. Your reservation will be confirmed after you receive the Final Confirmation.

  • Field Trip Options

    Pretend City offers a variety of field trip options for your school. Read more about them below to see which type of field trip is best for your young learners!

  • Morning or Afternoon

    Field trips in the morning are available Monday through Thursday. Field trips in the afternoon field trips are available Thursday through Friday. 

    Discounted prices available for Afternoon Field Trips (beginning after 1:30 PM).

  • Come to play at your own pace and learn to be good citizens. With so many community jobs in the city, what will your students choose? Field trip available year-round. Field trip costs $9/Child. 

    Grade Level: Preschool – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 120 Children

    Learn all about community helpers and what it takes to build a community. Your students will learn the importance of each role and how they function in our society in this engaging field trip. Field trip costs $10/Child. 

    Grade Level: Preschool – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children

    How does money work in our community? Your students will become sharp thinkers as they learn how to earn, save, spend, and donate their money! Field trip costs $10/Child. 

    Grade Level: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children

    Our city is a mess! Your students will learn all about the importance of recycling, reducing, and reusing materials in our world. Field trip costs $10/Child. 

    Grade Level: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children

    Red light, green light! Learn all about nutritious eating and fitness through our fun and interactive lesson. Field trip costs $10/Child.

    Grade Level: Preschool – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children


  • Scholarships

    All schools must be in Orange County and must meet one or more of the following criteria in order to be eligible:

    • • Title 1 School with 75% or more children on the free or reduced lunch program
    • • Preschool or ECE Center on government assistance program
    • • Community Organizations (such as group foster care agencies) who provide service to children ages birth through 8 years from underserved communities.

    Applications who do not meet the above criteria will not be eligible for consideration.

  • Learn all about nutritious eating and fitness through our fun and interactive lesson. BMI screenings will be provided.

    Grade Level: Preschool – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children

    Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County teaches children the importance of teeth, the tooth decay process, and proper oral hygiene. Dental screenings will be provided.

    Grade Level: Preschool – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 15 Children | Maximum: 60 Children

    ATTENTION:
    Scholarship applications are now available to download. Applications will be accepted for the 2016-2017 school year starting August 1st, 2016. Please apply early for considerations.
    Schools may only apply and be awarded once in a calendar year.

  • Scouts

    Scout field trips are available in the afternoon from Thursday through Friday after 1:30 PM.

    Scouts field trip options include our regular Morning or Afternoon field trip options. Daisy Scouts field trip options include lessons about the different petals.

    Sunny’s Petal is a lesson on being Friendly & Helpful. Children learn what it means to be a community. Field trip costs $9.50/Child.

    Gloria’s Petal is a lesson on being Respecting Myself and Others. This lesson encourages healthy habits and teamwork. Field trip costs $9.50/Child.

    Group Size: Minimum: 7 Children | Maximum: 30 Children

     

    Rosie’s Petal is a lesson on being Making The World A Better Place. This field trip focuses on a variety of recycling concepts. Field trip costs $9.50/Child. 

    Grade Level: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

    Group Size: Minimum: 7 Children | Maximum: 30 Children

    The Financial Literacy Leaf field trip is designed to focus on critical thinking skills about financial literacy. Field trip costs $9.50/Child.

    If you would like to tour the museum please call the Education Coordinator. Please note that tours are available Monday through Friday before 4:00 PM. Weekend tours may be accommodated on a case to case basis.
